The September Periclean (2025)

The September 2025 Periclean celebrates new beginnings across Periclean campuses as students return and the fall semester begins. This edition reflects on Project Pericles’ ongoing strategic planning process, a refreshed mission and vision, and the upcoming launch of our reimagined website. It also spotlights Civic Impact Assistant Jason Vadnos, announces the Fall 2026 grant cycle, and invites campus partners to the Blue Mountain Writing Retreat.

As campuses across our Periclean network welcome thousands of new and returning students, we are embracing a season of renewal and new beginnings. From the excitement of move-in day to the work ahead with our refreshed mission and forthcoming Strategic Plan, we are eager to advance civic learning as a defining outcome of higher education. Stay tuned for the launch of our re-imagined website, bold new student-facing programming, and features on the incredible civic engagement work across our campuses.

Program Assistant Spotlight: Jason Vadnos
Meet Jason Vadnos, our Civic Impact Assistant and Vanderbilt University junior, whose leadership and dedication continue to strengthen Periclean civic engagement on a national scale.

Now Open: Fall 2026 Grant Cycle
Applications are live for our Periclean Faculty Grants ($3,000–$4,500) and Civic Engagement Mini-Grants ($1,000), supporting innovative courses and community partnerships that place civic learning at the heart of higher education.

Blue Mountain Writing Retreat
Faculty, staff, and Program Directors are invited to our fall retreat at the Blue Mountain Center, October 30–November 2, for reflection, writing, and reimagining campus civic narratives.
