The December Periclean (2025)

The December 2025 issue of our monthly newsletter reflects on the past year and the year ahead, spotlights Carleton College's Philsophy Lab course, recaps the National Student Vote Summit, and announces our latest round of Periclean Faculty Leaders and Mini-Grantees.

The December Periclean is here!

As 2025 comes to a close, we’re reflecting on a year of civic innovation—and looking ahead with excitement. From launching our Shaping Civic Futures strategic plan to supporting more than 100 civic courses and projects nationwide, this year reaffirmed the essential role higher education plays in strengthening our democracy.

In this month’s edition, we cover:

  • A course spotlight on Carleton College’s Philosophy Lab—bringing philosophy beyond the classroom (Hope Sample and Daniel Groll)
  • Highlights from the National Student Vote Summit hosted by the SLSV Coalition, attended by Jason Vadnos
  • Our newly announced Spring 2026 Periclean Faculty Leaders
  • The latest round of Spring 2026 Mini-Grant awardees
  • Periclean Thought Leadership
  • What our staff are reading

As we look toward 2026, we’re grateful for the campuses, partners, educators, and students who make this work possible. Together, we’re preparing the next generation to shape a thriving, inclusive democracy.
